The Land of Leeghwater is a remarkable area of reclaimed land just above Amsterdam dating from the 17th century. This area is known for its polders and windmills. Under the supervision of hydraulic engineer Jan Adriaanszoon Leeghwater, lakes were drained using windmills. This is how Leeghwater turned water into land. That land is now a UNESCO World Heritage site with characteristic villages and endless natural beauty.
The New England IPA, a type of beer that originated in the northeast of the United States. The New Amsterdam IPA is hazy and light yellow in color. The taste is fruity and quite hoppy, but not bitter like you might expect from an IPA. The fruity aroma of pineapple, mango and peach combined with a soft and creamy mouthfeel make this original New Amsterdam IPA a beer you will not forget.
Amsterdam Beer Company is a part of CONO Cheesemakers, a cooperative of more than 440 farmers. CONO produces quality cheeses and has the most sustainable cheese factory in the world. The malt that Brouwerij Leeghwater uses in the production of these craftbeers is then reused by the farmers to feed their cows. Cheers to that!
